Memorial Library

In early 1980 Glasfax established a program to recognize the contribution of a member that had recently passed away.  A copy of a glass book related to the member’s area of collecting/research interest was identified and purchased.  The book had a suitable “book plate” added to the inside front cover and in most cases was donated to the reference section of the London Public Library. Over the years the collection has grown to twenty three books on various topics.

This collection of books possibly represents the largest single collection of glass related books in a public facility in Ontario.  It is a reference collection so the books do not go out on circulation but can be used in the comfortable surroundings of the Main Branch of the library on Dundas Street in downtown London.

Recently the library established a computer link that will take you directly to the collection; you can review in detail what books are available.  When you have one of the books in your hand please take the time to check the “book plate” details and remember someone that also shared your interest in glass collecting/research.

In addition to the reference section there are approximately one hundred and thirty-two books on the topic of glass in the circulation section of the library and can be found just several shelves over from the reference section. You can check this collection by entering the word “glassware” in the library search engine system.
