Glasfax Conference 2010

Glasfax District 3 hosted the 2010 Glasfax Conference June 4-6 in Burlington, Ontario.

There was a full slate of speakers and activities including:

- David Beland, who is very knowledgeable in several aspects of Hamilton Glass , spoke on The Glass Making in Hamilton. He also be covered some of the pottery produced in Hamilton and touched on other topics related to glass in the Hamilton area

- Catherine Hibbits presented her Contemporary Glass Art. She owns and operates a glass studio in Elora Ontario and is a glass blower herself, she creates environments which touch on the history of her craft including techniques she uses to portray a quality of places she has been inspired by in her travels.

- Dave Broughton from the Historical Lightening Society of Canada provided a fascinating presentation on Lighting the Victorian Home with Kerosene, and brought some examples of lamps and related ephemera

- Diane Cruxton presented on the topic of Lions after Landseer.

- A tour of Ireland House Museum, featuring several pieces of Burlington glass that have been donated to the Brant Museum by families of older members of Burlington who wanted their pieces left to the museum, there was also be a tour of the rest of the museum including the grounds.
